Biography

Caitlyn has been a performer since the age of 3. Her family’s prominent music background is filled with talent and accomplishments, and Caitlyn wants to follow suit. She enrolled in tap, ballet, jazz, and hip hop at Betty Hill Dance from 2007-2020, takes extensive voice lessons from 2017-today, and takes acting lessons to prepare for shows and auditions. Caitlyn has won 3 vocal jazz awards so far, including Outstanding Female Solo (2020, Emmetsburg) and Outstanding Musicianship (2018, IVJC) in high school. In 2021, she received Outstanding Vocal Jazz Soloist as a part of Downbeat Magazine's Student Music Awards.

High School

For classical voice, she earned all ones for IHSMA Solo/Ensemble (2018-2020). Caitlyn was also accepted into ISU Honor choir as a Soprano 1 (2020). ​In the realm of show choir, she participated in Lincoln High School’s varsity group, Infinity, for 4 years, held the position of dance captain/choreographer for 2 (2018-2020), and became an award-winning soloist for 2 (2019-2020, Indianola). When Caitlyn was 17 years old, she was awarded Outstanding Achievement in a Principal Role for her role as IDA in the musical Honk! She also earned all ones in every musical theatre entry for IHSSA Theatre.

College and Beyond

Caitlyn received her Professional Music degree from the School for Music Vocations in Creston, Iowa, where she learned music theory, arranging, songwriting, producing, classical and jazz piano, aural skills, and how to sing different styles in a group or as a soloist. She now works as a piano teacher at Arrow Academy in Urbandale, Iowa, and a voice teacher at Drake University. Caitlyn is also seen performing musical theatre on stage around Des Moines.

She hopes to publish her original music and vocal jazz arrangement, "Love Song", in the coming months.
